Well, our directv is out, Bill went outside to remove ice from it earlier, it worked for about an hour then out again. The rain has frozen and it is a very slick sheet of ice all over everything, even the grass is crunchy..yikes! Think it is time for bed, see you all tomorrow, if I still have power, that is...

Ice Ice, baby part 1

Well, it has started...it's raining like crazy, but is 31 degrees, so soon it will be ice, ice baby! Everyone be careful out there. I made some choc-chip cookies and some Bailey's irish cream bread, so we have comfort food.. :-) I'm not sure I like the bread, it has kind of a strange flavor, but I think it will be good with my Parmesan chicken tonight...Bill just went outside, it's freezing the rain...boooo

Ice Storm on the way

I tried to spend some time outside today, since the next 4 days we will probably be iced in...hope everyone is prepared, it looks like it's going to be very bad. Be safe, and if you don't hear from me,it's because we lost power, which happens pretty often here when there is an ice storm...have a great day, at least the rest of the evening.

Belated birthday wishes

Took mom for a medical test today, then she treated me to lunch at Applebees...a belated birthday dinner for me. Then my mother in law brought me over some beautiful flowers and some Jelly Belly's also a belated birthday gift...it was a great day. Also, a beautiful, warm sunny day in January, mid 40's, can't ask for more than that.

A beautiful day in the neighborhood today, you hardly need a coat, it's 36 degrees! I just got back from a long walk, and am having my V8 Fusion...yum...hope you all are having a fantastic day.!

Cook-ieeees

I finally made those oatmeal, raisin, pecan cookies. Bill took some to the gas station to share. I went back to the German bakery today and bought some table salt that is made from the Himalayan salt mines. It has 84 different minerals in it and is much better for you than table salt. So will be interesting to try it. That's all I got friends. Here's the cookies, take one and pass them along... :-)

I'm an official gas station loafer

We took Sally for her walk, and stopped at Troy's gas station, where we sat and visited with some guys we know who were in there loafing. So, Bill says I am now officially a gas station loafer. If I just would have had a cigarette or some chew I would have fit right in...lol..it's a beautiful day today, in the mid 20s and the sun is shining.

I watched an "end of the world by tornadoes and hurricanes-athon"....lol...I'm waiting for Ma Ma Mia to come on TBS...saw part of it last night. Is there anything Meryle Streep can't do? She's awesome!

Snow covered night

Don't you love it when you wake up at night and the moon is shining the window? The shadows of the trees were stretched across the glistening snow...if it hadn't been so cold, I would have taken a picture....but brrrrrr...still enjoyed it for a moment, then back under the covers...

More snow....

Wow, more snow today, as of now there is 7 inches, I think it's over. I took a walk while it was really coming down, just beautiful! I always want to open my mouth and let the flakes fall in my mouth, do we ever get to old to enjoy that?? lol

Winter.........I'm sick of it!

It's another dreary day here in Illinois, expecting more snow. I haven' t had much ambition of late. Need to get my butt in gear and do something worthwhile. I think I have a touch of what Bill had too. Could really use a walk on the beach in the sunshine and breathing some salty air....hey, I can dream can't I?

Annual birthday dinner

Went out to eat last night with mom, Bill, mother-in-law, Aunt Nancy and the husbands. We 3 Halterman ladies all have our birthdays in the same week, so we always go out each year. Went to Ryans at Mt. Vernon, and had a great meal and got "Happy Birthday" sung to us, it was a nice evening.

Bill got me this beautiful Salt lamp for my birthday, it has a soft orange/amber glow that is very relaxing, AND it's supposed to ionize the air in the room...either way, I love it! Thanks Bill, love you.

Supper's in the oven, chicken rice casserole, mashed sweet potatoes, green salad. Went walking in the snow this morning before the wind kicked up and spent some time on the internet....where has the day gone??? There was a beautiful red sunset glowing in the snow clouds.

Just another winter day

Coconut shrimp, wild rice, salad and buttered potatoes for lunch today, took a walk while the sun was still shining, watching "Knowing" right now...it's a great movie, I have seen it many times, but Showtime is open, so why not??? Hope everyone is having a great day....

Was just watching PBS, where they were visiting the Shetland Islands, this is a most famous bus stop right there in Unst. It it so famous, it has it's own website, check out the "themes" as they decorate for all seasons...it's really cool.

Ah, my husband is so sick with the flu...I feel so sorry for him. He has the cold virus, fever, body ache, cough, congestion type, tho. So at least he's not running to the bathroom every 5 minutes..oh, and he's getting where he can barely talk.. :-(

R.I.P. Gerry Rafferty

RIP Gerry Rafferty, thanks for great memories of my youth. Gerry Rafferty passed away today of liver failure. A sad loss to all of those that he touched with his awesome classics, such as Baker Street.

Mozel tov

It's a beautiful, sunny 40 degree day, so I took a walk with my ipod in my ears, singing along, cause no one is ever home during the day. I'm lost in "I Got a Feelin", and just as I'm shouting " Mozel tov", I see movement beside a house, and there's a lady sweeping....lol....I bet she wondered what an Irish girl was doing yelling mozel tov...I just waved...too late for anything else.. :-)
