Garden work day and pioneer cooking techniques

We worked in the garden today, cleaning up a zillion weeds, digging potatoes. Since we were outside all day anyway, we built a fire in our great little fire pit, and I cooked up a pot of chili, corn bread and coffee. It was delicious.
Sally was giving me the stare-down, guess she wants some chili, she's wagging her tail, so she must be pretty sure she will be dining with us today.

Tomatoes and peppers straight from the garden made this really tasty.

Bill thinks staring at the coffee pot will make it perk faster...... :-)

New Pictures of the South Carolina grand kids

Austin making a face and Hannah.
Looks like fun playing in the tee-pee.

What a great smile Caleb has.
Austin acting like his is in my really deep water.
Looks like something serious going on here.

Caleb, Hannah and their cousins.l
Aw, he looks like his daddy so much here.
Those goggles are hilarious.

Hannah is growing up into such a pretty young lady.
What big eyes you have!
First day of school. Thanks for sending me these pictures, Preston, I really miss seeing you all and we love you so much...hugs.

Kinmundy Park "Going back to school" event

It was the first annual "Back to school" event at the Kinmundy Park. (In otherwords, it was the first time for this event. )There was not a very good turn out. It was Sunday afternoon and very hot and humid. Here are a few pictures though of what was going on.
Face painting was very popular.
There was lots of food, but not lots of people.
Wild Bill was there with his lemonade stand, which was why I was there taking these pictures.
Alien girl..
The turtle race, which consisted of two contenders. BTW, the small turtle won, since the larger turtle went right to the edge of the finish line, and then turned around...and never crossed.
The blow up jumpy thing is always fun for the kids too.
Some decided to play basket ball.
Will Bill's lemonade was a big hit, as always. During the afternoon there was a gospel group, then in the evening a rock band played. It was steamy all day, a promise of a storm, so around 6:00, sure enough it started storming and then turned into a steady rain. The rock band was under a pavillion, so they kept playing, nearly everyone left, but the event kept going as planned.
I left around 3:30, and when I went back at 7:30, I took this picture of some kids dancing in the rain. Soory it's blurred, but I was trying to hold an umbrella. There was a group of about 20 people under another pavillion and a group of 10 under another. Other than that the park was empty. So, it was kind of a bust, but all is not perfect in an imperfect world.
At least these young girls had fun dancing in the rain.

A Day at Pana Park

Oopsy, on the ground he went!
And we all went round and round.
"Hello mom, look at me, I'm smilin'...hello?!
We had a nice cool spot to sit under the shade trees.

Garret loved the water and the bridge in the park

He just about fell off of the big tall slide, so he had to stick to the little one.
The bridge in the park
Lucas and Christine getting ready to slide down the slide.
Weee, here we go............
Garret wasn't heavy enough to rock "Dumbo", so mom had to help.

A sweet smile from the "fly boy"
