Wild temper changes in Ilinois

 We have spent the last few days outside, including today. We knew the weather was making a drastic change. It was 90° at 5:00. The wind and cold came in like a rocket, within 30 minutes Temps went from 85° to 64°. The wind is averaging 24 mph, gusts are around 30+mph now! Glad we enjoyed the hot days, going to be cool again for a while...

An eveing with the World Color Press ladies

 Had a wonderful time with these friends and co-workers this evening. We spent many years working with each other and becoming like sisters It's always great to see everyone!

 

Trail cam photos

 Checked the trail cams this morning, and the young buck is at it again, trying to show off for the ladies! Also, just a couple of interesting photos too. It's always fun to see what's happening in your yard in the middle of the night! Everyone have a great day, warmer temps are on their way!

Red Hat St. Patrick's Day

 It was St. Patrick's Day with the Red Hat sisters today! Thank you, Debi Champion for all of the fun games, decorations, glasses and beads. Thank you to the ladies who brought prizes also. It was such a fun time!

A few trail cam pictures

 Not many interesting trailcam deer pictures this week: a curious deer, a cat getting snowed on, rained on or hailed on..I don't know and some deer in the fog...that's all I got.

 

A little February weiner roast

 It was another gorgeous day, warm and sunny, until it rained on us....for 5 minutes... We roasted some hotdogs and made hotdog Swiss cheese wraps for lunch. We listened to oldies and had a wonderful 8 hours outside on this last day of February. We are so grateful to have these gorgeous days in winter. Also, I found some interesting trees...

 

A beautiful day for the end of February

 What a beautiful 70 degree I day! I spent hours out in the sun and think I got a sunburn..anyway, saw this beautiful bluebird getting a drink. There were a lot of them around today, but we see them all through the winter too. Caught a daytime picture of the moon. We are expecting rain and maybe snow next week...that is all. Everyone have a great evening!

 

Steampunk crafts

 Here are a couple of things I crafted this week. Sometimes it takes a lot more work than you can charge for an item. If I posted each step there would be 50 pictures on here, especially the rose mixed medium picture, since I had to decorate the frame as well as create the final picture.  What are they looking at and why is this doe on her hind legs pounding on the head of another one?  Trail cam mysteries abound..

 

Homemade pizza time

 I only make pizza once every couple of years at home.  It was cold and the wind is relentless.  So it seemed like a good day to make pizza dough and have our own deep dish meat lovers pizza.  The dough recipe made 2 pizzas, so I made two and froze one.  Anyway, it was delicious and then we had to take a nap...

 

The first Burger King, isn't what you think

 We went to Mattoon, IL with brother-in-law and sister-in-law.  We had lunch at the first Burger King....not the franchise, but a mom and pop place that was named Burger King in 1952.  In 1961 in Florida, another person started a hamburger place and also named it Burger King, which became the franchised version.  A law suit transpired, with the original business in Mattoon winning and are still using the Burger King name, but is not part of the franchise.  Also, the Burger King franchise can not build any Burger King restaurant within a 20 radius of the town of Mattoon.  The food was really good, real hamburger and fries.  I wanted a small ice cream cone and when my brother-in-law brought it back to the table it had candy eyes on it...how fun!  Also, on the way home we stopped by a restored 1950's SHELL gas station, very cool, it was called Big Al's...We had such a fun time!
