I had a wonderful day! My son, Darren Holsapple and daughter-in-law, Mindy Holsapple came to visit us! We ate lunch at Chuck's Place, which made it even better. We had a nice long visit catching up, even though we talk often, it was nice to get real hugs and I love yous.Mindy makes soap and she brought me this Halloween bar, isn't it great! It smells like the witches brew melts. Anyway, I am one happy mama.
What to do with a watch that runs backwards? Make a Time Travel watch out of it, of course! Also you can only travel back in time, not forward.I have been selling these watches for 3 or 4 years, none of them ran backwards. So here it is in a box that I got somewhere, the handle was already on it. I asked the AI Gemini thing on Google to help me write a commercial. All I asked for was I wanted it to be called a chronometer, that it could only travel back in time, that it was safe and would not interfere with the space time continuum. It came up with some fun jibber/jabber..then I added some random things in the box, maybe the crystals are from some ancient land from 2000 years ago, maybe the key is to a treasure chest on a pirate ship from the 1600's, maybe the cogs and wheels are from the industrial revolution in the 1800's, I don't know what the springs are for. Yes, I hear you thinking, boy, she has way too much time on her hands..it was a fun project.
We had our annual Red Hat Halloween party today. It was my turn to hostess. I made little green potion bottles and a small treat bag for them. We played the right/left game with Halloween socks and drew tickets for other prizes. I used my Ravenswood Family album as part of my decorations on the table. You can see Paula's reaction in the first picture! We laughed and talked and really had a great time! These delicious Halloween cookies were made by Kristy's Bakery!
I was looking at my trail cam pix today. We were sitting outside one night and had just started to go in and a neighbor over there somewhere set off fireworks, just once and the camera caught it along with this deer who didn't even have time to react before the picture was taken..Just thought it was interesting.
Here is my Halloween mantel. Of course I might change it again before the season is over. I made the skeleton grave scene in the glass cloche, the frames the witches and goblins are in, the witch wreath and some small potion bottles in the back that you really cant see. My favorite though is my witch's table. I got an orange light bulb for the lamp and I love it, it makes everything more eerie. I am not done decorating yet, but got the main places done. I made all of the potion bottles, the spell book and the photo album, decorated the oval frame with the witch in it and the vase the fall arrangement is in. I don't have room for anything else! The leaves are changing and even though we have a few 80°+ days coming up, Fall is here, my favorite time of year!
It has been years since I've made Cherries Jubulee, but I gave it a try tonight. It didn't quite work out as all I got was this pitiful blue flame, I forgot how fussy it is about everything being just right before you get the bright yellow flame. I know what I did wrong, but it still tasted great anyway!

It's TBT once again. Here I am with my cousin, Linda. We had such great times together growing up. She was so funny, she could have easily been a stand-up comedian...I sure do miss her. I often think how much mischief we could have gotten into as old ladies. She is truly missed, but is not forgotten.

I had such a nice day today! I had lunch with some dear old friends. Spending time with your lifelong lady friends is just the best. Also, I saw across the restaurant some other old friends, stopped by and had a nice visit with them too. I also made some bread and finished this Day of the Dead spell book. I think I 'm done for the evening! The cool weather is coming soon and I can't wait!
We went to the annual Kinmundy Log Cabin Village craft fair today. It was a perfect overcast 72°, the crowd was enormous. We visited with friends, spent time in the swing at the old country store, tasted pickle lemonade, yes pickle, and it was surprisingly good. We had homemade butter, handmade ice cream, and just about saw a dog fight between some angry little terriers and two pitbulls. The pitbulls backed off and cowered behind the owner..the pitbulls were pure white and named Thelma and Louise..They were beautiful animals. Cathy Sue Parrish , tell Cecil thanks so much for the pecans, very kind of him. Anyway, it was a very fun day and enjoyed exploring the old cabins and live music. We are tired old people now. Hope you all had a great day too!

Happy Fall Ya'll! (Well, officially not until tonight, but still....it's finally here!)
I have been making pear sauce everyday for over a week. Bill's brother gave us a huge box of Keifer pears from their pear tree. They are known to be very hard, even when ripe and yes, they are, hard as a brick! They make great sauce though, no sugar needed, as they are very sweet, I only used cinnamon. Also, it's been so hot, didn't want to heat the house up, so just put them in the crockpot on low for 6 hours, cooled and into the freezer. That is why it took me so long, one batch a day.I think we are set for fresh tasting fruit until next summer. A shout out to the inventors of food processors, crockpots and immersion blenders! I couldn't have done it without you! (Well, I could have, but I am too lazy for that!
It's Throw Back Thursday...my mom was such a good sport. I always helped her find a costume for our Red Hat Halloween party and I jokingly told her I had bought a bat hat, she said bring it on...what a fun party! The tornado sirens were going off, the wind was a-blowin'..good times though! I miss my sweet mama so much..
Had supper at Steak'n Shake at Effingham, now that they have decided to be old school and use grass-fed waygu beef, fries cooked in beef tallow and cane sugar sodas...it was delicious. We had a date afternoon, looking at kitchen tiles and stainless steel sinks and picking up items we won in an on-line auction waaay out in the creek bottoms...home by 6:30...now that's what we old people call a good time.Bill...I don't know what to do with this goofball...
We had a little rain cloud come by and gave us a rainbow...I didn't enhance these photos at all, it wasn't very bright, but I was still pretty.
Tonight was our annual World Color Press/Salem Gravure reunion. The plant closed in 2000, so it's been quite a while, many have passed on, so we are grateful to still be able to get together and reconnect once a year. Many had already left when we decided to take this picture. What a great time we had! It's always a potluck, so there was lots of good food too
