*Footnote.....since Madame Butterfly is an Italian Opera written by Puccini, all of the songs have Italian titles.....and since I don't speak Italian you will just have to make up your own titles...........

Sorry I chose such a depressing Opera, (i.e., I'm in love with a soldier, soldier dies, I think I will kill myself)......but I liked this picture...

Yippee.....Preston's back in the States!!!

I called Amanda a few days ago because I hadn't heard from Preston in a while. She told me that he was coming home for his R & R and that they were all going to Disney World. I am so happy that he is home instead of in Iraq, of course, he DOES have to go back, but for now and for today, I am happy. I just know they are having a great time.

Today is Preston's Birthday, but he is far away in Iraq, so I am sure it is not a happy one for him. I hope he knows we are thinking about him today, as everyday.

Remember when you were about 8 or 9 years old and I made that birthday cake with the soldiers fighting each other all over the top? Who knew you would be where you are today?

Today was a terrible day in the world

I try not to be a news person on my little tiny blog, but today was a terrible day for Virginia Tech. in Blacksburg, VA. A strange Korean guy killed 32 young college students and professors for no apparent reason. It has been very heart-breaking to watch and listen to all of the students talk about their friends and their beloved school. I am just noting it here, so that we will all remember and think of those families without their loved ones and say a little prayer for them, as well. There will always be an empty place at the dinner table, holiday and family celebrations will be minus that one special person and the world will never be the same.

Caleb's First Birthday

Amanda just sent me these pictures of Caleb's first birthday yesterday. He is opening the presents we all sent him. He has grown so much and I appreciate these pictures so much. She tells me that Preston told her he may be home for R and R this summer, but may not leave Iraq until Christmas....:-( . So, I guess I might as well settle down and just wait like she is.

Hurry home, Preston, we miss you.

Events in a nut shell..

Well, I am way behind, so let's see.........

We have sold the ice cream shoppe. I have trained the new owners for approximately 10 days and I think they won't need me much longer.

Mom is starting her radiation treatments tomorrow and will have them everyday for 7 weeks (except week ends). She is doing well though.

Preston is still in Iraq and is stuck there due to the increase in soldiers. He is very unhappy and depressed and I don' t blame him. He has been there too long and too many times and is missing his son's first birthday.....and that all just sucks. I am sending him some extra prayers.

Caleb's birthday is tomorrow. I sent him some noisy gifts, but know he will have fun with them and sent the older one's some Easter baskets.

On a happier note: Bill and I are going to Ireland in July. We set up our tour last week and sent off for passports. I AM excited about that. That is one of our dreams and it is coming true. We have been saying for years that we want to go there someday...........and someday is now....well.....soon.

The chickens, the dog and Bill are all fine......and that catches up my blog....
