Christmas crafts

Four days after Thanksgiving and I'm knee deep into making Chriistmas decorations from Resale shop finds. These retro candelabra things were such fun to make into Christmas displays. You can't tell from the pictures, but I put glitter on everything. The lights still work on the cardinal one, so I kept it for us. I don't know how safe it really is. I removed the wiring on the Santa one, so he's just a shelf sitter. The birdcage Bill found at a garage sale, but I confiscated it...he's such a good sport, he is eating his supper on a table covered with glitter. I'm ready to take a break now..until tomorrow!'

Thanksgiving projects

It's been a beautiful warm Thanksgiving day! We had a lovely evening celebrating with friends last night. Tomorrow we celebrate with the Haltermans. I've caught up on some crafting. I hope you have all had a great day with family and friends. Tomorrow.....Christmas starts!

Final Thanksgiving evening in honor of our dear friend, Carol Schwartz

 We have been going to our friend's house, Mike and Carol Schwartz for many years, the evening before Thanksgiving.  Always lots of people, fun and food.  Our friend, Carol, passed away last January at the age of 73, such a shock. Lori , her daughter, wanted to do one last evening Thanksgiving as a tribute to Carol. Mike, Carol's husband is still struggling as well.  They had an empty chair and Carol's picture at the table. A wonderful gesture, but brought tears for many of us. Also, there was a recipe for Carol's dill dip that she had written in her own writing and given to Blake's ( their grandson) wife Cassie. Cassie made the dip with a vegetable tray and had a stack of copies made so we could all have one.  How sad this all is. Still it was nice to see everyone and visit.  It will seem strange not to have it next year, but I understand, it was hard on her children, Lori an Craig and will be better to start new traditions.

Finished this steampunk jewelry box today and took it to Country Creek Treasures to sell. I barely got in the door and sold it! My picture frames have sold also. Guess what I 'll be doing this week-end?!

Veteran's Day

 Thank you to all veterans today. A special thank you to my son Alexander Preston Phillips for 25 years in the service of our country. He is a civilian now, but is still working for the military. I am so proud of him and all he has accomplished.

Bill's 2000 Honda's mileage reached 300,000 today and he was on his way to the auction house to sell it. Perfect timing! It's been a great vehicle but it was time for her to go before she gets on medicare. (Should have used Medicar.)
