Jailhouse Rock cake

Jailhouse Rock cake, aka Elvis Presley cake aka pineapple poke cake....there's a layer of pineapple under the frosting and candied walnuts on top. The story is that Elvis would ask his grandma to make this cake, it was was his favorite! Whether this story is true or not, it sure is delicious!

New steampunk crafts

Thanks to my Steampunk people for buying my crafts and keeping me busy! I finished these two this morning. Edgar Allen Poe, anyone? The other one is a mirror.
Also, found this vintage photo of two children with very creepy pumpkin heads, so needed to add that to my Halloween decorations and was a good way to use a broken frame. Everyone stay cool! It's a hot, humid day here in Kinmundy town!

Kristy's Kafe debut

Had such a fun evening with my teamembers tonight at Country Creek Treasures. Kristy's Kafe (located inside Country Creek Treasures)served a delicious meal showcasing some of her menu items from her upcoming opening day, September 24th. I was too busy enjoying myself to take photos, but here is one dessert from tonight, salted caramel chocolate cake. We also had lemon chicken, browned butter garlic real mashed potatoes, salad, a delicious Asian soup, crescent rolls with strawberry butter, coconut cake and a banana cheese cake. All was delicious! Exciting times at our little shop!

World Color Press Reunion

24th reunion for World Color Press was last night. Some came and left before I took any photos and our group was much smaller than usual. As always, it was so nice to see our friends and co-workers again. There are always stories and lots of laughter. So many have passed now and we remembered them as well. Through tornadoes, snowstorms, summer heat, dramas, company dinners, dances, parties and Halloween antics, your co-workers become your family. We still got our magazines printed and shipped. Good times with good people!

Witches

I thought it would be fun to have pictures of witches around the house for Halloween. I took some cheap (or free) plastic frames and aged them like old wood. I stared printing the pictures and ran out of ink, my last picture ended up being purple witches. So...I ran with it! Sometimes mistakes can turn into something better than you planned! I don't know if these are people dressed up like witches or if they are real witches!

Small town Labor Day parade

We had a lovely evening with friends last night and our annual Labor Day Festival was today here in Kinmundy. Bill went to the car show in the park and I met him later to watch the parade...here's a few highlights in pictures, everything you would expect in a small town parade. Then Bill cooked us some hotdogs and we are spending the rest of the evening outside. It was just beautiful and cool today, again pretty windy, but a perfect day as far as we are concerned.
