Taco Party
The ladies of '67 had a taco party today at the home of Carol Schwartz.
I didn't think I was going to be able to make it, but I stopped in for
a little while. It was nice to see these ladies once again. Thank
you, Carol, for having us at your home and for the little gift bag and
poem, that was very sweet...I hope you all had a good day today!

Our 25th wedding anniversary
Happy Anniversary to my awesome husband, who makes each day an
adventure and always makes me laugh at the most unexpected things... I
love you more every day...Twenty five years now..wow, seems just like
yesterday we were sitting in this limo getting ready to start our new
life together....hugs and kisses..
Here are 25 of my favorite memories of our life together
New Year’s eve, when we danced all night to an Elvis impersonator that was a midget.
Our day at the Hummingbird festival
The Vacation Hotel that reminded us of Psycho
When we Sang Johnny Cash songs in a real Irish pub in Ireland
When we Camped on the dunes in Colorado in a tent, with coyotes running around and howling all night
When we Chased tornados for years all over Texas and Oklahoma
When you good naturedly let me teach you the chicken dance at Shelley’s wedding
Went to a Startrek convention
Went to LOTS of Renaissance Fairs dressed like Pirates
Danced all night at many Halloween parties in costume
Traveled to many interesting destinations
When
We became chicken farmers, for many, many years
Owned and operated the Ice Cream Shop together
When we worked hard , but loved being, Concession trailer owners and operators ( that is a long story within itself)
When you let me actually paint your face like the blue Avatar people
(that picture never saw the light of day)
When we Built a chicken coop together in the rain
When we Worked together on Wild BIll’s Fresh Squeezed Lemonade stand at festivals and fairs
When we drove to Kentucky to my brother, Kent’s and watched the complete total eclipse in 2017 When we Sat on a beach from morning til after sunset by a lighthouse in Michigan
When we have gone on our many wonderful camping trips (and now with the motorhome, it’s even better)
When we worked together building silly scarecrows for the garden
The Gold panning in Colorado and only finding rubies
Hiking in the woods, state parks and building shelters with no tools
When you encouraged my many cooking experiments and eating them when they weren’t even good

Cold summer soup
It's such a hot day, so I made this Spicy Chilled Avocado soup...I was
really surprised at how good it was and so refreshing! I hope everyone
is staying cool! I still had to make sausage and eggs for Bill, because
if you mention "avocado", he acts like there's a vampire in the room..

Shelley's trip to Washington D.C.
Since Shelley is now working in Rockville, MD, she took the opportunity to go to the Smithsonian today, and was lucky enough to get in on the festivities surrounding the 50th anniversary of the Moon Mission of Apollo 11, Neil Armstrong first walked on the moon...she sent me a text and said it was scorching hot, but she enjoyed all of the displays and stayed for this wonderful presentation at the Washington monument...for those of you who witnessed the original live broadcast on tv and radio back then, this will surely bring back memories...

Jeweled sky
I just happened to look outside and oh my, look at this sunset and the multi-colored clouds..just beautiful!
The only place to be today....in a pool of water...
I spent part of the afternoon swimming, ok I wasn't really swimming, I
was just walking around in the water up to my neck..it's 96 degrees with
105 heat index...the water was so refreshing. Looks like maybe rain
coming in now...I hope you are all having a good day!

Update on our new little neighbor
The new little colt next door was close to the fence and watching me
when I was walking this morning. He is growing so fast. The owner told
me he didn't know the mama horse was pregnant and what a surprise when
he came home from work the other day. Sorry, should have adjusted the
contrast on this before I posted it.

A new neighbor :)
Our neighbor has horses and I love watching them. Today, there was a
surprise....a new baby was born. It was just laying there and then it
hopped up, wobbled around a bit and now it's running around flipping
it's tail....it's so sweet. Don't know if it's a colt or a filly, it
was standing in the tall grass by the fence...so couldn't check that
part out..lol...

A fun day with Teresa
Had such a fun day with my "old" friend Teresa Dalton. We went to a
class my daughter-in-law was giving at her shop, Sincerely, the Craft in
Belleville. It was fun and interesting learning about fairy lore,
making herb packets for the bath and treats for the fairies to set
outside in the garden. First we had lunch at a place called
Seven...that's it, just Seven...delicious food. After the class we went
to see my son, Darren, who was working today at The Ink Well.. Good to
see him and give him a hug. Stopped at Starbucks for a chilled caramel
coffee, but they made us a hot one instead, it was still good though.
All in all just a great day catching up with Teresa and seeing my
family...I hope you all had a great day too!

quality time in my hammock today, doing some reading and listening to
music...life is good..

ROCKETMAN...burning out his fuse up here alone................
We went to see the Elton John movie ROCKETMAN today. I didn't realize it was a musical/fantasy/biography, but really loved it! Elton John had a really sad childhood and in fact, a large part of his life was unhappy. He's finally happy in the end, and that's all that counts. The film is loaded with all of his music, the singing is done by the actor playing him, he does a really good job too, not Elton, but convincing enough..it's a really different and refreshing way to tell a story of someone's life...

will sit out here until dark...a great way to spend the evening. Now
we're just a swangin'.

Annual World Color Press Reunion
Sure enjoyed seeing all of these lovely people last night, here's just a
few pictures. It's kind of an open house thing, so I am sure others
were there before we arrived and others came later...I love that we do
this every year...there was a memorial for those who have passed on,
which was very nice. There was lots of laughs, hugs and great food too.
Until next time.....

Shelleys next assignment.....
Most of you know my daughter, Shelley, is a traveling nurse. She has
been lucky enough to spend a year working in Denton, TX where she can be
home with her family every night. She's required to work somewhere
else for the next three months, so she is going to MD for her next
contract. Luckily, one of her fellow nurses is going to work there too
this time, so she doesn't have be alone like she was last year, when she
spent 3 months working in Chicago. Anyway, here is a photo of her and
some of her fellow nurses and friends at the going away party from last
night! Poor Shelley has been sick for a week with the coughing,
sneezing, watery eye, miserable virus/flu..but she wasn't going to miss
the fun...!'m Glad she has a good support group with her family and
friends. Have a great day, every one!
Summer days are the best...so is retirement
Just took my walk. Now spending the rest of the morning sitting in my
swing reading. Bill is working on some things in the barn...its a
gorgeous day to be outside...Gotta run Joe Hill's stories are awaiting
me.

Summer cook-out at the Winter's house
We had a nice afternoon with Tevin and Melissa Winters and their sweet
twin girls, Jasmine and Rose Mary, and the many other folks who joined
us on the porch for delicious food and conversation! Really enjoyed
it! Thanks Tevin for doing a great job on cooking all of the burgers,
hot dogs and brats!
