The Hunger Games, The Mockingjay Part 2

We had a very nice day today! We started off early at the Round Table at the Omega Store. Enjoyed visiting with everyone, especially Janet Carlson Rose. Then we went to the Mt. Vernon movie complex and watched the 4th and final Hunger Games, The Mockingjay, Part 2. Again, the books were followed very closely, including the ending, which was perfect. Then we stopped for a treat at the DQ.. We were glad to get home though, very damp and cold all day today. Now we are just waiting for the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead... I hope you all had a great day!

Thanksgiving Friday

We enjoyed some more great food with the Halterman clan today. So nice to see our nephew Bradley Halterman and Mikailah. They moved to Waco, TX last year, so it's been a while, was awesome to catch up with them. It was such a nice day, with lots of good food too, of course.
. Mom joined us too and then when I took mom back home we Skyped with Shelley, Cary and the boys for a long time, so glad to see and talk to them, miss them all so much. Lots of rain today, all day, and tomorrow and tomorrow...I hope you all enjoyed your day. Prayers for my brother in law, Steve Halterman who had to miss the entire dinner and visit today because he has the flu, bless his heart. Hope he gets better really soon. I didn't get to hear any corny jokes today, seemed like something was missing, Steve.

Reflection of sunset on winter trees

I was just looking out of the window for a moment and saw the trees all aglow from our beautiful sunset.....so I ran outside to catch a few pix, no coat, only socks...then I realized, it's 31 degrees outside.....I guess I forgot for a moment that it's Winter!

Saturday Afternoon with the 3 Dulsimeers at Country Creek Treasures.

Spent a lovely afternoon at Country Creek Treasures in Salem, listening to Christmas music being played on dulcimers. It was very enjoyable, plus I got to visit with my old crafting buddies. For such a miserable day weather-wise, there was a really nice turn out for the 2 hour concert. Refreshments were served also, that pumpkin latte was fantastic! . Thanks so much Sally Boyle, Roxanne Pennington, the 3 Dulcimeers and all the others that made this ugly Saturday a great day!

Rainy Day Birds

It's such a cold, windy, rainy day, poor little birds are all puffed up trying to stay warm.  At least the feeder has plenty of food in it to help them out.

Glass Harmonica

Yesterday
was movie day at mom's. One movie we watched was MR. HOLMES, which was a
story of an aging Sherlock Holmes, who was having problems remembering
his last case. It was a good movie, slow, but a good story. Anyway,
one of the characters was a young wife who was learning to play the
Glass Harmonica. I have never heard of this instrument, but found that
is was invented by Benjamin Franklin in 1761. Such a pretty
sound....even though I have heard this sound in ambient music, I thought
it was made by a synthesizer....the moral of this story....we are never
too old to learn something new. I hope you have all had a good day!

New picture of Preston's kids.

Sure miss these kids....Molly, Hannah, Austin and Caleb...hope to take a trip to Fort Knox in the future. Preston is stationed there now, so much closer than North Carolin
a.

Shelley at work

My daughter sent me this photo today, to show me she does actually work...I knew she did...lol...it's so cute though, had to share...she is a heart cath nur
se.

Mom's Birthday and flowers sent from Kent.

I took mom out to Applebee's for her birthday lunch, it was delicious and we had a nice visit.  We ran some errands and then went for ice cream.  We watched a couple of movies:  VACATION (the remake) which was hilarious, and Chevy Chase has a couple of scenes in it too, as Clark Griswald.  SHE'S FUNNY THAT WAY, starring Owen Wilson, it reminded me of Woody Allen movies, was pretty good.  Kent sent her these beautiful flowers too.     Happy Birthday, mom, hope you enjoyed your day.
