no, I'm just kidding, this is a happy place......OK, maybe I am just a little weird.
Another adventure in St. Louis.....come on.......it's all we got! We took the metrolink to Union Station for lunch, which was , once again, mandarin food, but it was delicious. The view was interesting, as alwasys,
The metrolink has added some more stops, so first we took a ride to the other destinations, but got off at Forest Park. Soon we came to the Thomas Jefferson Historical Museum.

One of the first exhibits was from the 1904 Worlds Fair, which, of course took place in St. Louis. There were quite a few items that had survied the 102 years since the fair. 
Most of the pavillions that were built especially for the World's fair, were decorated with intricate ornate objects, here are a few survivors, it was amazing to see them along with the pictures showing the original buildings.
In the Foreign pavillions there were wonderful objects never seen by the average person , such as this beautiful chinese carved cabinet, what beautiful details.
One of the other exhibits was the Lindberg. Here is the actual flight suit worn by Charles Lindberg on his flight to France.
Original Newspapers were displayed on the walls with Headlings about Lindbergs historic flight.
This is a replica of the Spirit of St. Louis, the original is in the Smithsonian in Washington, DC
The main attraction was the Benjamin Franklin exhibit, of which I could take no pictures because there was security everywhere. So, just imagine his log when he was postmaster, his many inventions, some of which were actually exhibited, some were replicas or were from that time period and donated by other museums or individuals., but below is a firetruck that was designed by Ben Franklin and was beautiful preserved and decorated.
Outside the museum was this beautiful fountain. It was a gorgeous day for Sept. in the high 70's and sunny, no humidity..
After the museum we hopped back on the metrolink and headed for the landing and the Arch. The new part of the metrolink has some interesting decorations on the walls.
We found out on our journey to the landing that there was a Blues festival going on there (so that is my segway for my title...Thomas Jefferson and the Blues....I know, it's a pretty far reach.
The setting sun was reflecting on the arch and it was beautiful, but was so bright that it kind of disappeared in the this photograph.
The main attraction Sunday night, was Sonny Landreth...he was amazing. That Louisiana boy can sure play that guitar. There was no way to get close, so I just took a night picture holding the camera and so all is a big blur...so just imagine long haired Sonny playing his little heart out right here on this stage.
We has such a grand time. We got back home around midnight and we were so tired, but satisfied with a wonderful day together.
In 1987 my brother, Kent, and I went to California to visit our brother, Kim. We all traveled to Big Bear Mountain to a telescope making convention, where your average Joe can display his or her home-made telescope. It was a fun time of camping in the mountains and seeing all of the different types of telescopes. So anyway, the guest on Saturday was Clyde Tombaugh, the discoverer of the planet Pluto. So this is my only claim to fame, meeting Clyde Tombaugh and getting his autograph which is below the picture of Mr. Tombaugh. So, why after all of these year is Pluto being kicked out of out galaxy??? I ask you? Mr. Tombaugh would turn over in his grave if he knew this was happening. After all he did in his lifetime to further education in science this is the thanks he gets. Ok, the reason the scientists are giving for this decision is because using current technology there could be as many as 300 other planets in our galaxy equal to Pluto discovered near us well ...........so does this mean that the Disney Pluto will have to get a new name...like Xeno or something........think about it.......
The thing I remember the most about the convention was that next to our camping spot was a concession booth and they played the sound track from the Wizard of Oz", constantly, they sang every word and did the different voices , the munchkins, the lion, Dorothy, it was a scream....I remember sitting on the tailgate of my brother's red toyota pickup and drinking beer and eating cookies and laughing our asses off at these crazy people. Now that I have actually done the concession thing I can see how they got like that!!!
It has been quite a while since I have blogged. Mom has been very ill with complications from chemothereapy. She has been in the hospital for 12 days, 7 of them in ICU. Bill and I took her to Mt. Vernon to Good Samaritan Hospital where they found that she was having a heart attack. That night her heart had to be shocked back into it's normal rythum. She then developed a terrible case of pneumonia. All of these things are due to chemo therapy treatments for inflammatry breast cancer. She has had a hard way to go and is now very weak, but we are home and she is sitting in her own living room watching tv and sometimes on the internet. She has to use a walker, but has been leaving tracks all over the carpet in her apartment, so she is trying to build her strength back up, but as I said is very very weak. She is in good spirits and I have been working during the day and staying here at night. It is always nice to be around her she is such a trooper and a loving kind person, I just wish it wasn't because she is ill, I wish we were just going to our Red Hat meetings and our Clay Aiken concerts and out to lunch, but that will have to wait until later. Thanks to all for the prayers, cards and phone calls. The only bright spot were several visits by Shelley and baby Garret, he is growing and is so cute. and can not decide on which end to wear his pants.......hugs from grandma.

I let Hannah and Austin make thier own ice cream treats, they thought that was fun. Austin got a face full of ice cream when he was making his milk shake!

Preston and Amanda and family stopped back by on their way back to North Carolina. Mom was ill from her chemo treatment and couldn't join us, but she knew I would take more pictures, because that's how I am! so, mom, these are especially for you, but everyone else can enjoy them too and of course, you WILL enjoy them because I am the grandma and that's an order!.
