Chocolate blackberry merlot cupcakes....that's a mouth full!

We ended up with 7 inches of snow, so I'm not complaining. We broke a record from 1976 of 4.8 degrees this morning at the Alma weather station...so brrrr...so cold, but the sun is shining. We have plans tonight, so I was making some chocolate/blackberry merlot cupcakes to take, and then I discovered I didn' t have enough powdered sugar to make the blackberry frosting. Now, I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but did you know you can put regular sugar in a blender and in a few seconds you have light and fluffy powdered sugar? Old dog...new tricks..

Completely done with the spare bedroom, so cute, don't you think?

First snow, winter of 2013

Good morning snow-bound friends! Ok, I'm just being overly dramatic, the snow stopped at 4 inches, but there is more on the way, so the weather people say. The radar looks like the storm has moved south some, so we may not get much more...anyway...it's beautiful as it is. I was looking at these beautiful ice crystals on my window this morning and had to share with you. Have a safe and warm day!

Belated birthday lunch at Java Joes.

Mom and I had a great day! We ate at Java Joes, where I bought mom a cool yellow purse, since this was a belated birthday dinner that I promised her. Then we went to the Rusty Nail and found a beautiful winter wreath for her front door. We watched the Steve Jobs movie JOBS, and I don't know why this movie got such bad ratings, I thought Ashton Kutcher was fantastic in this roll as JOBS...he became STEVE JOBS, and made me forget who he really was, that's good acting. Then we had ice cream and it was getting dark, so time for me to get home. Please keep my sister-in-law, Barb Barbara Higgins Knight in your prayers, she had major back surgery today and is in a lot of pain right now. At least the surgery went well for her. Thanks so much, have a wonderful evening all.

Pallet headboard

This is the headboard we built out of old pallets. It's very plain and needs something else on it, a grape vine weaving through it, or a word painted on it, or a natural wreath. I'm
never done, always tweaking.
