Spring storm

Well, that was quite a storm we had, the power was out all over town for over 3 hours. I had just taken some bread out of the oven, literally 2 minutes before the power went out, so yeah me! There was quite a lot of wind damage here in town, trees blown down across roads and on buildings. Bill and I ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches by candlelight and were just enjoying the sound of the rain...and the toads that were singing so loud we could here them in the house..when the power came back on.I hope you all had a good day..still much more rain coming our way, the night crawlers are all over the place out there, it would be a good night to gather up some fishing bait.

Ladies of '67 monthly lunch

The ladies of '67 had lunch at the Americanlegion Salem Il today. Had a smaller group this month, but we had a great time as always...so glad Sherry Holler was in town to join us today..Hope you all have had a great day.

More fishes for the Haltermans

Bill has gone fishing several times this last week, but today, was a banner day...35 fish, mostly bluegill! He got home just in time for us to get them all cleaned and in the fridge before the storm hit..however roast and carrots in the crockpot tonight, maybe some long grained and wild rice, or kraut....yes, we eat that homemade kraut with everything....hope you all have had a good day!

Lunch at Pizza Man

I had lunch at Pizza Man in Salem with Carol and Rose Marie today.  We had a nice long visit and ate lots of pizza.  Four guys from the class of '64 (that we all knew, of course) were sitting next to us.  It was fun to visit with them too...When they left they told us they were done gossiping, but we told them we still had a lot to talk about..lol....

This might be an "EWWW" post for some of you, but the praying mantises hatched today. I just happened to be digging in the garden and I had been watching this "pod" or whatever it is, since last fall. I was digging right by this cage and there they were...hundreds of them, very tiny. The glob that is hanging down out of the pod is nothing but praying mantises (or whatever the plural is). Yes, I got excited, but you know, that's just me...I should have no pests in my garden this year...

New hammock...I love it!

Bill put up a hammock for me today and boy, do I love it. I told him I was just going to sleep there. So I am lying there, relaxing, and thinking that it just can't get any better than this, had my hot tea, a pillow and a breeze.. I looked up and saw a robin right above my head, and then it started raining...glad it was just rain that hit me in the head...lol...Hope you all had a good day today!

Supper with Teresa

Teresa and I had supper at the La Cocina  Mexicana restaurant.  We sat outside on the patio and had the best time ever.  We sat there for hours drinking margaritas, well, we didn't drink for hours, just visited.  Had a great time, as always.

Early Easter dinner with the family

We had an early Easter dinner at my mother-in-law's today. Always lots of laughs with that bunch, as well as great food. After dinner we had the annual Easter egg hunt, it is always such a hoot watching them. then we did glitter tattoos...you were right, they loved the cake didn't want to finish their food and wanted peeps..lol...but, we didn't cut the cake until they were all done cleaning their plates.. Bill and I sat in the swing this evening and watched the blue birds making their nest in their little house, like they do every year...it was a very good day.

The Easter bunny and her peeps

The Easter bunny and her peeps....yes I went a little over board with the candy...lol...I was never one to believe that less is more. My goal was to make an Easter bonnet, it turned into a jungle..lol:) I thought my nieces and nephew needed to get sugared up before they ride back home with mom and dad tomorrow...for hours...in the car... April Red Hat lunch

Enjoyed a nice lunch with my Red Hat sisters today at the Odin Cafe. We won prizes from picking out our own Easter egg, thank you, Kathy Albert for being an excellent hostess once again..Always a good time with these ladies.
