THE FLASH (Peyton) and Lucas....... The kids got to swim for about
an hour and a half, it started raining, but of course, no reason to get
out of the pool, until the storm got too close and Mike yelled
"Everybody out of the pool!" — in Salem, IL |

Yes,
running power tools with grandpa. He taught them how to slowly squeeze
the trigger on the drill and they both did a great job of putting the
screws in the table/stool. |

built us an evening fire, he let the boys throw some wood in there, but
with strict instructions...because they have no fear! |
Lucas finally let me paint his face, Garret
still didn't go for it, but he told Luke he looked cool.. just a few
pix...and then we are making play dough, I hope you all have a great
day, mine has been awesome so far.
It
was a full house at the Omega Round Table this morning, a fun visit with
all. Then we stopped by our friends house, even though we just saw
them at the round table.. ( Janice Patterson Hanks
and Dave).and did some more visiting under the shade trees, such a
pretty day. We had Mexican scramblers for lunch and now just catching
up on exciting household chores. I hope you are all having a great day!
There were many things going on at the Thunder
Moon Festival today in Kinmundy, but I was SOOOO busy painting little
faces, the only break I had was late in the afternoon when it was time
for the outhouse races, always fun! I sat on the grass
and had a hot dog and some smoked cabbage, and enjoyed the races. This
year they had to stop in the middle of the race and change the toilet
paper roll, and the next time they had to clean the toilet seat, then
continue on with the race. My favorite outhouse was the castle named
The King's Throne..the people pushing it lost control and it went in a
ditch...they got it out and continued on, but it cost them points...I
had a great day. I hope yours was too.
Bird update: I took Carolyn Zurbriggen
s suggestion and put the nest in a hanging basket along with the birds
and hung it in the tree above where the nest fell out and sure enough,
the parents found them pretty quickly, they fed them for a while and
then one of them flew out, about 2 hours later the other one flew out. I
knew they were about ready to fledge, they were moving around a lot and
stretching their wings last night. So after, rescuing them, feeding
them and then putting them in the
hanging basket, they still flew out and ended up on the ground...I was
at mom's today, so Bill stayed outside all day and kept track of them,
the parents continued to feed them, and after I got home it was still
going on. I was just out there and I could hear them peep and the
parents were nearby calling them...I hope they will be ok, thanks to
everyone that suggested ways to help them, you are all the best! I took
this one picture of one of them.....
Wow,
what a storm! 40 mph winds, really treacherous. Our power flickered so
many times, I don' t mean, just flickered, I mean it went out and came
back on over and over again, non-stop, Bill pulled the breaker so our
appliances wouldn't burn up. I had already started supper, so I cooked
fried chicken with a flashlight, now that was fun! All is ok now, but
more coming tonight! Sadly a robin's nest was blown out of our tree and
one of the babies was dead, and the other two are just sitting there on
the ground. I know there's nothing we can do, but it's just heart
breaking to see them looking up at us and opening their mouths. They
aren't old enough to leave the nest yet....so I brought them in and put them in a box for the night, it rained again, so I was glad I did, I fed them little pieces of bread soaked in milk, and chopped up blueberries. They slept all night.
We had some little visitors this morning,
three baby raccoons, this is the only one that stopped long enough for
me to snap him...so cute....but, yes, they are vicious!
Bill has been working on this chicken tractor
for days, didn't he do a fantastic job on it? We are down to 3
chickens, going to get a few more and just keep enough so that we will
have fresh eggs. We just put them in there last night, they
were very upset, and don't get the concept of the ramp....Bill lured
them down it this morning with a trail of sunflower seeds...lol..he's my
chicken wrangler! Now to tear down the huge chicken coop and fences
and let our yard get back to grass...have a great day all!
