Camping at Carlyle Lake...Dam West area.

Camping at Carlyle Lake this week end, having a great time. We have done so much bicycling, and walking, but it's good for us old folks. Getting ready to hit the beach, 'cause it's hot, hot hot! It's great that there is internet at this camp ground (Dam West)...I hope you all have a great Sunday!

The camping went well, considering it stormed all night last night and before that was just oppressively hot, thank goodness for cold water at the beach. Saturday night had the most beautiful sunset, I know, there are no bad sunsets, they are all beautiful, the colors were just amazing. I DID NOT enhance these photos at all, the colors were just that vibrant...so here are a few of my favorites from what I just posted in my Camping adventures album on facebook. Our rain gauge had 4 1/2 inches of rain in it!

These two people were just sitting their enjoying the sunset, picture-perfect.

A little sailing was going on at the beach.

4 1/2 inches of rain last night, wow, the camp ground was pretty flooded.

Our rain gauge when we got home had 4-1/2 inches of rain in it, wow!

It's really happening.. :(

I'm back home now, feeling kind of sad because my daughter and family are moving to Irving, TX. Shelley already has a job as a traveling cath lab nurse and will be leaving next Friday. She starts her new job the next week. Cary and the boys will follow a little later.....so not sure how long before I can go visit them.....although, I may try to get back to Decatur one more time and take mom to see the grand boys before they leave. Have a great week end....

The Long, Long walk

We just got back from a long walk, well, I walked, the boys rode their scooters. I had to yell at them to slow down, they said "Run grandma, you need some exercise!"....lol....I said "I'm old, it's 85 degrees and I'm wearing flip flops, so no running for grandma!"....lol....kids! Then we went to DQ for a treat. I hope you are all having as much fun as I am.....

So last night and this morning, we played Bingo. I went to Dollar General and bought a bunch of cheap toys, put them in brown paper bags, and whenever they "bingoed", they got to pick a prize...they think this is great fun! Yes, we used mini marshmallows for our bingo tokens...lol.. Bingo couldn't compete with video game time though...lol.

Some more of their prizes...they are such a hoot!

I see you...

They ate half of the marshmallows, so I had to keep adding them to the bowl..they also got plastic lizards.. :)

A visit to Sam Dale lake

Bill and I decided to take a drive down to Sam Dale lake, looking for some different camping spots for this summer.  It is very remote, but seems like a nice quiet camp ground.  We got out our lawn chairs and sat by the lake and ate crackers...lol....We watched the storm come in, it was cool, and breezy and we sat there for a couple of hours...retirement is so tiring...  ;)   .   Before we left we stopped by the restaurant, the name of the place is the "MIDDLE OF NO WHERE" restaurant, and indeed it is.  Such a cute little place, with a covered deck outside.  I think we may be going there soon...

We went on a picnic today and spent the day under some shade trees at Carlyle lake, also went on a long walk, it was finally warm, really enjoyed it, peaceful and quiet with a light breeze. I hope you all enjoyed your day too, be safe if you
