The Golden Goat Bridge and other groaners....

Bill wanted to do something fun today, so I checked out events in the St. Louis area and come up with some interesting possibilities: Wine tasting, art show in Forest Park, and a Canine Carnival in Tillis Park........I thought the Canine Carnival would be hilarious and fun...but......noway was Bill going to watch dogs dressed up like clowns riding on the backs of bigger dogs...............So, we went to Eckert's Apple Farm in Millstadt, IL.... You can see the arch and the City of St. Louis from the farm...It is a beautiful site from the Look Out area. Here is the entrance to the park with all of the little food places and stores to buy apples, applebutter, pumpkins, etc.
This must be one of the first trucks used by the Eckert family years ago. It was a good photo op......Hi, Bill, no clown dogs here...ha ha...
Here are a group of people up on the lookout watching the "Pumpkinator" shooting pumpkins out into space.......
Here is the firing of the pumpkinator with 5 pumpkins at one time, You can only see 4 of them in the picture.....in fact, I can't even believe I got this picture with a digital camera.
The entire area was beautifully landscaped with trees and shaded areas to sit and eat or just relax.
Here is the aforementioned "Golden Goat Bridge".....it was pretty interesting to see the goats climb to the top..
I'm waving at Bill from in front of the Golden Goat Bridge....
The goats were really sweet and gentle.
You can't really tell how long this is, but it is a tunnel slide in the side of a hill....it had to be about 75 to 100 feet from the top to bottom. The kids loved it..
Well, BIll, didn't want to see any acrobatic pooches, but he seemed to really enjoy the PIG RACES"""...with such contestants as Sarah=Jessica Porker, Snoop hoggy hog and Lindsey Lo-ham (by the way she was really causing problems with the other pigs, I'm just sayin')
The apple orchards were all around the outer edge of the entire place...there were wagons of people picking their own apples, the trees were loaded .
I know we always do this because there is not one to take a picture of us together, but Bill was holding the camera with one hand, so there are never any good ones of us.
Of course, there are always the country music groups to add lots of atmosphere.
I just thought this picture was intersting...st. Louis in the back ground, kids on the hayride, and the little fire pits with bales of straw around them for the evening parties....it was a beautiful day, 90 degrees and not a cloud in the sky.

We ended the day by getting ice cream at Carlyle and driving to the lake, sitting on the beach and eating it........it was a really fun day.....
