Basil pesto...yummy

Good afternoon friends! I hope you are having a great Monday. I worked in the garden and then made some more basil pesto...I LOVE basil pesto, yum! Then Bill and I went to pick up some wood pallets, or as they call it in the craft world, re-claimed wood. He's been making some little wooden benches, but sold all of them, so time to make some more! Very hot and humid today, so I hope you are all staying cool.. Have
a wonderful evening!

Interview for Salem Times-Commoner with John Scattergood....

John Scattergood with the Salem Times-Commoner came to our house today and did a feature on my face painting to promote the Kinmundy Thunder Moon Festival, July 20th.  It was a windy day, but we stayed outside and I had Kelly Middleton, bring her three girls, and Bill's cousin, Gloria, brought her two grand sons.  It was really nerve-wracking trying to face paint and be interviewed at the same time, as he was also recording a video to put on STC-TV....anyhoo, here are the faces I did that day, it was fun and the kids loved it!  The article was just awesome, on the front page and everything, also very lengthy...I was really happy with it.

The Lone Ranger Rides.....with Johnny Depp

Good evening, friends! Mom and I went to the Centralia Theater today to see "THE LONE RANGER", and let me tell you, I don't know what all of these critics are talking about, calling it a flop. It was awesome! It was very funny, lots of action, a damsel in distress, a love story, and really evil bad guys, ending with lots of riding horses on top of moving trains, and a fantastic (I'm sure mostly CGI) train wreck...I've seen a zillion WORSE movies. It went so fast did not even seem like 2 1/2 hours! So, go see it. Besides that Lone Ranger dude is real easy on the eyes...

Just another day....

Good afternoon, friends! It's a scorcher today, but I did start my day with this delicious blackberry/blueberry/pineapple/banana and chia seed smoothie, boy was it good. Then I took a bike ride to town and did some errands, including stopping in at the meat market, because they have moved right downtown now, very convenient. So I tossed my steaks and pork chops in my basket and rode home. Then Bill's brother, Brad, stopped in for a visit, it was great to see him. Picked basil and froze it and put some in bags to dry...checked on the bunnies...and that's about it so far

Blackberries and Dirty Dancing what a great Sunday!

I picked the first blackberries today, all I got was this bowl full, but I see a delicious smoothie in my future, yum.   I'm watching DIRTY DANCING...again.  I can't believe I still love this silly movie, sure makes me miss Patrick Swayze though..

I love to dance, so I just loved this YouTube...

4th of July rabbits

I hope you are all having a great 4th of July. We decided to stay at home this year and we've had a very nice day. We got a lot accomplished, plus spent the evening watching the bluebirds by our firepit....roasted some marshmallows...yum. Today I was picking the few green beans that were ready and I started hearing this weird little sound. Then I saw something move and it was a rabbit's next with 4 little babies in it...One of the bunnies was startled when I was making a racket moving the beans around..they are so tiny. I had to take a picture, don't ya know...

Off we go to Decatur

Mom and I went to Decatur today to visit Shelley, Cary and the grand boys.   We played with play-doh, had a salad from Wendy's and watched CLOUD ATLAS, which was very weird as it was 6 stories inter-twined in time, and was very disjointed.  It was also LONG, but the idea and the actors were awesome.  Then we visited for a while and we came home.  It was a nice relaxing day..here's a few photos of our play-doh adventures.
Lucas pounding on the play-doh....not sure why.
 Garret made a turtle....I think
 Well, he looks mighty happy!
 Star in his eyes..
 Play-doh spaghetti
Garret's "art work", that's what he called it, not sure what it is.
 Lucas made a taco
 Egg
I love Shelley's aquarium, very artsy.
I call this a ball of play-doh, but Garret said it is a boulder.

The little old kraut maker, ME!

Made some kraut today, hope it turns out.  It's full of the pro-biotics that are usually cooked out of processed sauerkraut.

Here's the recipe if anyone wants to try it.

Gust front after it rained all day, even more coming... :(

I just took this picture....look what's coming towards us right now....MORE rain, More
wind...and who knows what else!

Trying something different isn't always all it's cracked up to be.

Good morning friends! We have had a busy week-end so far, but I won't bore you all with the details. Loving the thunderstorms this morning, had my coffee while listening to the rain and watching the poor wet birds at their feeder...I made some brown rice flour muffins, never made any before, I'm trying to get away from that terrible white flour. The muffins taste ok, but they have an odd texture, after all the flour IS ground up rice...very filling though, only need one and please don't think I don't know what day it is...I had some cupcake papers left from Halloween... ....so that's my morning so far, hope you all have a great day!

Fun wedding!

We went to an outdoor wedding yesterday. It had been pretty all day, but you could hear thunder and see the rain clouds coming as the ceremony started. All went well though and as soon as the minister said "By the power vested in me by the state of Illinois and on account of it's going to rain, I now pronounce you man and wife"...the rain started. As the Green Acres theme played, the newlyweds ran to their truck. Then we all ran, because the rain was coming down in torrents It was a beautiful wedding just the same and we had a wonderful time at the reception as well. Here's a few pictures...congratulations Carrie and Phillip Sykes...
